St Ives Town climbed into second spot in Southern League Division One (Central) thanks to a 2-0 win at Fleet yesterday.
Two goals from set-pieces in the space of 10 second half minutes earned the Saints success in Hampshire as they extended their unbeaten start to 2016.
Striker Andrew Phillips broke the deadlock just after the hour before defender Charlie De’Ath sealed the points.
Boss Ricky Marheineke said: “Our first-half performance set the result up. We defended a steep slope very well in difficult conditions while spending a lot of time in our own half.
“It looked like a game that might be settled by an odd goal and we put ourselves into the position to win it with a couple of goals which both arrived from corners.
“The team that works hardest and plays the conditions best tends to win games like this and thankfully that was us on the day.”
St Neots Town were beaten 2-0 by promotion contenders Hungerford in the Southern League Premier Division.

Two goals in the opening half-an-hour condemned a Saints side featuring new striking signing Afolabi Akinyemi – the latest player to arrive from League Two side Stevenage – to defeat at the Premier Plus Stadium.
St Neots, still under the caretaker control of director of football Iain Parr and Academy manager Andy Davies, are now 10 points above the relegation zone.
