SIXTEEN-year-old Stuart Entwistle from St Neots showed he had the Golf Factor to win the East Anglian leg of the competition.

Entwistle, an 11-handicapper saw off the challenge of 15 other junior golfers from the region to win Golf Factor 2 Junior Talent Search. He has been receiving coaching at the John Letters Academy at the Cambridge Golf and Conference Centre in Hemingford Abbots.

He edged out Alex Wilkens, 13, from Bury St Edmunds and eight-year-old Owen Meeds of St Neots.

All players had to demonstrate putting, pitching, chipping and driving ability and play nine holes of Brampton Park Golf Course in blustery conditions. They were judged by PGA professionals Tim Button, Matt Rice and Ian Cochrane.

Rice said: ‘The final itself was a great day and some of the golf was fantastic. It’s a shame there was only one winner.”

John Andrew, the founder of Golf Factor, said: “This year has been a huge success – we’ve learnt a lot from the first Golf Factor, listened to the kids and we’re developing the competition, which is getting bigger and better.”
