Sleaford Town 0-4 St Neots Town

THE Shane-Stefan strike partnership worked wonders once again for Saints on Saturday in a 4-0 romp at struggling Sleaford.

Messrs Tolley and Moore provided three of the four goals to take their combined league and cup goal tally for the season to 76.

Neots looked at it right from the off and only the crossbar denied Mickey Hyem a rare goal on eight minutes, with his long-range header from a misdirected clearance having beaten keeper Leigh Overton.

However it wasn’t long before they did find the breakthrough and three goals in a clinical 10-minute spell followed to all but seal victory inside the opening half an hour.

The first, after 11 minutes, was simplicity itself, as a pitch-length clearance by Will Fordham sailed over the retreating Sleaford defence for Tolley to control with a single touch and lob the advancing goalkeeper.

Four minutes later the pick of all four goals saw Hyem pick out Tolley with a shrewd pass and he teed the ball up for Stefan Moore to hit an unstoppable volley past the mesmerised Overton.

And the third goal on 21 minutes came when the keeper overstretched in attempting to reach a Stefan Moore cross, dropping the ball nicely for Dan Jacob to head into the empty net.

The Sleaford crossbar was struck twice further through Hyem’s skimming effort late in the first half and also Lewis Webb just after the re-start.

The fourth and final goal arrived three minutes shy of the hour mark.

Tolley split the Sleaford defence to send Kieran Davies clear on the right and his early cross was steered wide of the goalkeeper for Stefan Moore’s second goal of the match.

Meanwhile three outstanding saves from Overton in the final 20 minutes kept the scoreline semi-respectable.

Neots are due to host Holbeach tomorrow night (Tuesday), while King’s Lynn are scheduled to visit Wellingborough.

On Saturday, Neots and Lynn clash again at The Hunts Post Community Stadium in the quarter-finals of the UCL League Cup.

The winners of that tie will visit holders St Ives Town in the semi-finals.
