St Neots made FA Trophy progress by seeing off fellow Southern League Premier Division side Bedworth United.

The Saints triumphed 2-0 in a first qualifying round tie at the Premier Plus Stadium although their performance appears to have left plenty to be desired. It was described as ‘thoroughly uninspiring’ on the club’s own website!

Both their goals arrived from the same supply line as Isaac Galliford corners were headed in by returning captain Mat Mitchel-King after 25 minutes and recent defensive recruit Shane Blackett with five minutes remaining.

It was a first St Neots goal for the latter which secured £2,700 in prize money and a place in the second qualifying round draw, which will be made tomorrow (Monday).
