Gary King says new signing Dean Cracknell will bring some experience to St Neots Town’s midfield – when he is ready to play.

The Saints signed the former Northamtpon Town and Barnet player from Hendon just before Christmas and King told The Hunts Post, once the 30-year-old gets over a recent ankle injury, he will be a quality addition to the squad.

“He is someone I have tried to sign three of four times over the last couple of years,” said the former Arlesey Town director of football. “He’s not quite fit yet but he is an experienced midfielder and just the kind of player we need.”

St Neots have improved since King and his co-manager Zema Abbey were appointed late last year. A run of decent results – including a 6-0 win over AFC Totton and a 1-1 draw with title contenders Stourbridge – has seen them pull away from the Southern League Premier Division’s relegation zone. On Saturday, Poole Town visit The Cozy Stadium and a win against the Dorset side would be another valuable stepping stone to safety.

On Tuesday night St Neots beat Division One Central side Dunstable Town 3-0 in the league’s Red Insure Cup with three early goals from Lewis Hilliard, Ben Ford and Jay Davies (his eighth goals in eight games).

“We have come a long way in such a short space of time,” said King.

Meanwhile, influential midfielder Adrian Sear has joined Burnham on loan in a bid to help him get fit following an injury.

“Searsy desperately needs some minutes of playing time after two lengthily injuries,” said a club spokesman on the official website. “Burnham is on his door step and was Adrian’s choice of club.

“The loan is a little longer than we wanted but unfortunately any contracted player has to go out on loan for a minimum of one month, Part of the Agreement is that Searsy does not play for Burnham against us in our forthcoming fixture.”

Ed Adjei is now back in full time training after four weeks out injured while goalkeeper Niall Conroy, who collapsed before the game against Stourbridge on December 28 has been given the all clear to return to training.
