Interim boss Andy Davies reckons four more points will clinch St Neots Town’s safety – and he wants to get them in the next four days.

Saints face a hastily-rearranged trip to King’s Lynn tonight (Wednesday, 7.45pm) in the Southern League Premier Division. It was initially scheduled for Easter Monday, but a waterlogged pitch forced its postponement.

Davies’ men then entertain county rivals Cambridge City in a home derby clash this Saturday, 3pm and he hopes they will be mathematically certain of staying up by the time the final whistle is blown in that fixture.

Davies said: “We’re nine points above the bottom four and I think another four will do us.

“I’m hoping we can get them in the next few days to take the pressure off the final few games.

“King’s Lynn is a tough place to go – and they are also a tough team to face.

“It is the most intimidating ground in our league as they have a big and passionate following.

“We’ve got some young lads who might get a bit of a culture shock, but we’ve also got plenty of experienced players to look after them.

“The game against Cambridge City is another massive one. We’re both just above the relegation zone and we’ll both want the points.

“We’re at home so we will play on the front foot and take the game to them.

“We’ve still only lost one game against teams in the bottom half of the table since I took charge, and that’s a record we want to extend.”

Davies missed Saints’ entertaining 2-2 draw against form team Frome at the Premier Plus Stadium last Saturday due to overseas commitments with the club’s junior sides.

Saints twice hit the front courtesy of Remy Gordon goals early on and just after the hour, but were pegged back on each occasion.

Davies added: “From the feedback Iain (director of football, Parr) and Adam (player/assistant boss, Tann) have given me, a draw was about the right result.

“Frome are flying on current form, but it is another point gained for ourselves and great to see Remy scoring goals again.

“The current season has been a bit of a write-off for him due to injury, but he is a fine all-round footballer.”

Defender Jamie Anton has left Saints by mutual consent after almost a season with the club.

The former Leicester City youngster arrived in the summer after helping Corby win the Southern Premier title last season.
