THERE was more triumph for St Neots Rowing Club at the weekend after Natalie Bream struck gold for Great Britain at the Munich International Regatta. Bream, rowing with Amelda Gare of Molesey in the coxless pairs, fought off teams from across Europe to take the gold by recording the fastest time in the heat and thereby clinch top spot. St Neots and Great Britain coach Martyn Rooney said: "The girls put in a superb race to win their heat ahead of Austria and Romania. "It is another success for our club and means we have won at all the major championships and reached the final at Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta." The medal-clinching performance on Sunday made up for the disappointment of missing the A final in the coxless fours on Saturday, although Bream did help win the B final. Bream's club colleague Jo Fitzsimons claimed a silver and a bronze medal in the coxless fours and pairs respectively to complete a memorable weekend for the club. Racing with Henley's Jenny Arnold, Fitzsimons qualified for the final in third place and again finished in the bronze position in the final, behind Germany and Romania. Rooney said: "Jo and Jenny produced a very good result in the pairs event which placed them third in the Great Britain team." On the Sunday, Fitzsimons and Arnold were joined by Olivia Canegie-Brown of Reading and Amber Anderson of Lady Eleanor Holles School in the coxless fours. The event was a straight six-boat final and the quartet secured silver behind the Italian crew after overhauling the German boat. Fitzsimons can also boast two medals from last year's regatta and brings St Neots Rowing Club's combined international medal tally to 54 - with 21 golds. The club has seen 23 of its members represent Great Britain or England at international level in 19 different countries. Meanwhile, Jacqui Round is preparing to represent GB at U23 level in the Duisburg International Regatta at the weekend.
