St Neots boxer Tommy Martin says he has had a mad couple of weeks but is now ready to prove Eddie Hearn right after signing a deal to fight for the internationally renowned promotor.

Martin, 20, has a record of nine wins from his nine professional fights and had meetings with both Frank Warren and Hearn before signing for Matchroom Boxing last week.

Now the former St Ives club amateur will be on the undercard of the star-studded ‘Collision Course’ bill at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on July 12 – gracing the same canvas as Tony Bellew, Nathan Cleverly, Rocky Fielding, brothers Stephen and Callum Smith, and London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua.

“It has been unreal,” said Martin, who is managed by Johnny Eames and trains at the Trad TKO gym in London. “I got an offer from Frank Warren and then Eddie Hearn got in touch. We went with the better offer on the table.

“It has been a mad couple of weeks having the best two promoters in the land fighting over you. “And now, just to be part of such an impressive bill as ‘Collision Course’, is brilliant.”

Martin, above, is ambitious. He is head-strong and confident. The lightweight has a large ‘Team Gun’ fan base which continues to grow with every fight and is already the proud of owner of a British Masters belt. He is the real deal – afraid of no-one.

In the last year and a half as a professional boxer Martin has impressed the great and the good and now has the opportunity to step and be counted among the very best young boxers the UK has to offer. “I am absolutely over the moon that all the hard work and dedication I have been putting in has received the attention of Eddie Hearn,” he said.

“Eddie has given me the platform to move through the ranks and continue on my journey and the opportunity to acheieve my dreams.”
