ST NEOTS lost to Dunstable in their friendly game at the Common on Sunday.
The hosts made a couple of mistakes to give away two tries in the first two minutes and after battling back were caught on the counter to fall further behind. The visitors were soon on the back foot as Saints pushed forward, and scrum half Dan Hill cut inside to score a try with Steve Gibson converting.
The hosts kept up the pressure from the restart, with flankers Dan Miller and Jim Cooper carrying the ball well to set up Pete Arnold to score another try that was converted by Gibson. Saints exerted early pressure in the second half and their scrum began to dominate but they could not turn their dominance into points as the visitors scored again. St Neots kept pressing and pinned Dunstable in their own half, and Dave King weaved his way past six opposition players for a third, and Gibson made it a hat-trick of conversions, but Saints still lost the game.
