ST IIVES made the short journey to St Neots looking to improve upon their poor performance last week against Redbridge and Ilford. After a cautious start Ives took the lead when Alex Cade finished from close range. St Neots hit back and equalised soon after following some poor play by St Ives. The visitors then started to dominate the possession and regained the lead with a Darren Coles strike and Paul Swannell made it three from a well-struck penalty corner. Alex Gutteridge then added to the lead just before half time with a calmly taken penalty stroke. Ives started the second half with purpose and Paul Swannell increased his match tally with another penalty corner. A period of scrappy play then ensued with two St Neots players being sent to the sin bin and Matt Pluke took full advantage with St Ives's sixth goal of the game. Ben Scarrow completed the rout with a delicate deflection into the back of the net. The win takes St Ives to second in the league and they will be looking for a positive result from this week's home game against Vauxhall, 3.00pm kick off. Ives 3rd X1 visited Spalding but returned empty handed, the 3-2 defeat saw Richard Corbett net a brace for Saints. The 4th team took a 2-2 draw against Cambridge South but the 5th team suffered a 2-1 loss at Peterborough. Ives Ladies made the most of their journey to Ipswich coming home with a fine 3-1 win. Goals were scored by Lexi Palmer, Lou Smith and Juliet Fabb. The ladies 3rd team completely outplayed Cambridge 2nd to record a 7-0 win.
