The St Ivo School’s year eight girls’ football team were beaten in their bid to win another national title yesterday (Wednesday).
The local pupils suffered a 4-1 loss against South Hunsley High School in the final of the English Schools’ Football Association Under 13 PlayStation Cup for Girls at the Madejski Stadium, Reading.
St Ivo made a super start in their bid to follow up national success at Under 12 level last season as Katherine Speed produced a fine curling finish from a tight angle, but four goals from South Hunsley captain Jess Park earned the Yorkshire school the silverware.
The St Ivo team, managed by PE teacher Lisa Trigg and coached by Darren Marjoram, were cheered on by families, friends, staff and their mascot Ivo The Incredible.
