ST IVES U10 shook off the disappointment of last week’s defeat to Cambridge with a double against Wisbech.

The first match was a close affair, with Ives taking the game by three tries to one. However, game two was one-sided as the final score ended 25-0 to Ives, with Alex French scoring his debut try.

Ives U14 won their match against Wisbech in style. The young Bulls ran home seven tries with Ian Liddle taking a hat-trick, and Zac Hayden, Steffan Gosling and Luke Green (2) also scoring.

Huntingdon Stags U13, U14 and U16 went head-to-head with Oundle, who proved the stronger side in all three age groups.

The U14s put in a brave performance before going down 22-26 and were unlucky not to get something from the game.

They swapped early tries with Oundle, as George Napier and Xavier Parker scored, but Oundle also crossed twice.

Minutes before the break, Stags dropped the ball when on the attack, and the Oundle winger collected it, and ran the length of the pitch give his team a 19-10 lead at the break.

A converted Oundle try followed at the restart, but the young Stags soon got their game together. Parker was excellent and George Furbank laid on a try for James Harris which Furbank then converted.

The pair combined for another in the corner, and only the clock managed to prevent a glorious comeback.

Tries from Jack Skidmore and Jack Summers, both converted by Mitchell Newman, who also landed a penalty, were not enough to rescue the U16s after a slow start against Oundle as they lost 28-17.

Stags U13s were also on the wrong side of a poor result, losing 53-0 to a strong Oundle side.
