ST Ives Academy Thai boxer Leigh Edlin has won both the British and Commonwealth titles in recent weeks.
At the end of April, Edlin won the British title in Bedford by stopping his opponent Lewis Exley in the fourth round. But he had to face a tougher fight four weeks later to defend this title and take the ISKA Commonwealth belt against Irishman Dan Connaughton in a winner-takes-all bout.
Edlin knocked out Connaughton in the second round, bringing his record to 12 wins in 14 fights with 10 by stoppage.
The fighter now holds the Midlands, English, British and the Commonwealth titles. Instructor, Kru Shaun Boland, said: “We will be giving Leigh a break through the summer and a decision will be made as to his next fight but I am hoping this will hopefully be for a European title in October.”
Jason Mitchell and Simon Forrest also won their respective fights with Mitchell knocking out his opponent in 38 seconds of the first round, which was the Academy’s quickest knock-out to date.
