OLLY Cook, Ollie Fitt, Cathy Thomson, Becky Hime, Daniel Yarney, Edward Hick, Brandon McDonald, Francesca Crocker, Lucas Dove and Hannah Howe were all impressive as St Ives Swimming Club won six gold, seven and six bronze county medals at the Peterborough Open..
March was a great month too and the start to April came with the club only sending a small team to the meeting. Andy Hunter, the club’s head coach, said: “This highlights our commitment to quality training and technical ability. That a small club can compete with and win against much larger teams demonstrates our swimmers’ determination to reach their maximum potential.”
Also in the picture, in the centre at the back, is 21-year-old Andrew Weatheritt, the St Ives and Loughborough University swimmer who is ranked joint fifth in the UK at the 50m Freestyle event
Weatheritt achieved a time of 22.86 at the Sheffield Premier Swim Meet two weeks ago and he is now training for the World Championship Trials in the summer.
