Swimming GOLDEN boy Oscar Sterling led the way for St Ives Swimming Club as they collected a staggering 33 medals from the Cambridge Open meet held last weekend. Heading up the boys was Sterling (10), who won four gold medals in all strokes of the 50m races. Ollie Cooke (15) took gold in 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, with silver in 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle. There was also success for Ollie Fitt (12) who reigned supreme in 50m backstroke, as well as bagging silver in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly events. Brandon McDonald (10) gained silver in the 200mIM and bronze in both the 50m breaststroke and 200m freestyle, while Lucas Dove (10) won bronze in 50m backstroke. Medals kept on coming as Ellie Roberts (13) won gold in 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle while also grabbed silver in 50m backstroke. Katie Hughes (13) won silver in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, Jenney Hookham (11) won silver for 50m freestyle and bronze in 50m and 100m back. Silver success also went the way of Holly Jaszkiewich (10) in the 200m freestyle and she won bronze in the 50m freestyle. Cathy Thompson (21) won silver in 50m butterfly and bronze in 100m butterfly. Becky Hime (16) won silver in 50m breaststroke, Ella Hartley (13) silver in the 50m freestyle, while Ellie Watson (11) took silver in 50m breaststroke. Meanwhile Katie Smith (11) finished with the bronze medal for 50m breaststroke, Alice Kerr got bronze for 50m freestyle and Ellie Burgess (9) won bronze in 200m IM.
