There were plenty of home triumphs at the annual St Ives Town Regatta last Saturday.
More than 60 races were packed into a busy programme of racing over a 550m course on the River Great Ouse - and competitors from St Ives Rowing Club shone.
Four members of the same family starred in victories as Henry Heylen, sons Frank and Alfred, and daughter Harriet all impressed at their home event.
Henry and Frank both featured in a successful St Ives eight along with Jon Dolby, Pip Woodford, Paul Ashmore, Gary Gilbey, Tom Wells and Luke Watson.
Frank also added to two single sculls triumphs, in the Elite and Intermediate 3 categories, to his collection.
Harriet enjoyed a successful solo mission in the Junior Under 16 single sculls while Alfred coxed the St Ives novice quad, made up of Campbell Strong, Conor Strong, Rory Crouch and Sam Halsted, who chose the perfect time to collect a first-ever victory at their home event.
Two more members of the Heylen clan also took to the water with Sally joining husband Henry in a Mixed Masters E double sculls event in which they were narrowly pipped to victory by a crew from the Sudbury club.
And, to complete a family affair, their eldest daughter Rachel also took to the water as a cox.
The other St Ives successes came from the duo of Mika Gawin and Tabby Renfrew-Knight in the Intermediate 3 mixed double-sculls, Wells in the Intermediate 1 single sculls and Ashmore in the Masters D single sculls.
St Ives Rowing Club secretary Laura Mitcham said: “It was a great day that proved to be really enjoyable for all. I’m really proud of all the hard work everyone put in to ensure the event runs so smoothly and successfully.”
The regatta featured rowers from more than a dozen clubs.
