ST IVES Hockey Club’s men’s firsts pulled off two thrilling 4-3 victories at Ipswich seconds and at home to Cambridge City seconds respectively over the weekend.

First up was a trip to Ipswich on Saturday and a brace apiece for Darren Coles and Jamie Moise handed the visitors a narrow victory and completed a league double over their Suffolk opponents this season.

Moise was at it again the very next day, helping the side defeat Cambridge City seconds by the same score, with Derrick Pope and Paul Swannell also on target.

Next up for Ives’ firsts is a tricky home match against Felixstowe on Saturday.

The men’s seconds, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Cambridge South. Kevin Donnelly scored for Ives, who visit Cambridge City fourths on Saturday.

Elsewhere goals from David Jones, Matt Keightley and Richard Corbett could not prevent the men’s thirds from a narrow 4-3 defeat at Cambridge South seconds. This weekend, they host Boston.

On the ladies’ side, the firsts were held to a goalless draw at home by Lincoln firsts ahead of this weekend’s visit to Harleston Magpies seconds.

Elsewhere, Ives’ ladies seconds enjoyed a 3-0 win at Wisbech seconds, Frances Whittaker-Wood, Katy Burgin and Laura Ball their scorers. Sawtry firsts are Ives ladies seconds’ visitors this Saturday.
