St Ives Ladies 1sts made an emphatic return to winning ways last Saturday when thumping Wisbech 2nds 11-0 in the East Women’s League.
The Division Two North-West leaders had dropped points for the first time this season the previous weekend, but they responded impressively as Helen Clarke, Holly Stride, Juliet Moynan and Zoe Helme all scored twice. Vicky Leighton, Abby Scarrow and Shelley Reed also got in on the act.
The 2nds were also victorious as Jules Griffiths and Louisa Scotney fired them to a 2-0 success against Leadenham 1sts in Division Three North-West while the 3rds claimed a 3-1 win over Cambridge City 4ths in a top-of-the-table clash in Division Four North-West (South). Beth Paton, Elaine Jones and Laura Beadles scored the goals.
St Neots Ladies saw a big lead wiped out in a 4-4 draw at Alford in Division Two North-West.
Lisa Gibbie hit her first league goal to help the Saints into a 3-0 advantage with Amy Wilkinson and Emma Ritchie also on-target.
A Paula Bingham goal then left them 4-1 to the good, but they were pegged back before Gibbie came within a whisker of a late winner.
Darren Coles continued his fine scoring form to fire St Neots Men’s 1sts to a fine success.
