TWO ST IVES cyclists took part in the club's first race of 2009 on Saturday, January 3. Andy Wylde and Tom Caldwell took part in the race with 40 other cyclists at the Hogg Hill Closed circuit in Fairlop, London. Wylde managed a sprint finish up the hill on the final lap to finish in seventh place, but Caldwell got caught in the bunch and could not finish higher than 21st. The 30 lap race was on a challenging circuit that had a big climb at the end of every lap, and the course has been built for the London 2012 Olympics. The club meets every Sunday at 9am outside Richardson's Cycles in St Ives for a 50-60 mile cycle in three groups for racers, intermediate and beginner cyclists.
