ST IVES cyclists competed in the Ely Hardriders 25 mile time trial race last Sunday (February 15).

Philip Peacock was third in line to start the race ahead of six team mates along the mud strewn streets around Ely. The race was part of the East Anglian Sporting Courses Competition that saw wind and rain hamper the cyclists' start at 10am.

Paul Davis led the way for Ives, coming 11th overall in one hour and four minutes. Sue Fenwich also made the start line, finishing in one hour and nine minutes, whilst Rachel Smith got a puncture before half way.

Veteran Terry Cooke chose to make the race even harder by competing on a fixed bike with no gears, finishing in one hour and 19 minutes, just behind John Best in one hour and 12 minutes.
