A ST IVES cyclist made a fond farewell to the club as he finished second overall in his final club race on Sunday, February 22.

Jason Hucklesby was among six riders competing in the last round of the Thetford Winter Series and got their best result, finishing second overall and completing the four laps in just over two hours and six minutes. Andy Wylde followed him in 69th place whilst the other four cyclists failed to complete the four laps.

Hucklesby picked his way through the field and half way through the last lap realised the leaders were only a few seconds ahead of him. He bridged the gap to overtake them and only George Budd managed to hang on and stay level with him. The two stayed close until the final 250 metres when Budd powered ahead to win.
