Elsewhere, St Ives Bulls lost out 25-17 against Rushden in a pre-season friendly. Francis Sanderson gave Bulls the lead with a neat try before Rushden replied with a penalty. Ives continued in fine style to claim another score when James cannon crossed the line and they stayed in control well into the second half.
Rushden hit back to take a slight advantage before James Bennett Jnr re-established the Bulls' lead. The home side then put in a big finish to deny Ives any glory.
St Ives Bulls get their Midlands 6 East (South) season under way with a trip to Stamford on September 20.
