ST IVES and Ramsey will face each other in the final of the Hunts Premier Cup, after both teams produced late shows to come from behind in their semi-finals.

The county's two form teams will meet at Jubilee Park on Wednesday hoping to add to the silverware they have already collected this season. Ramsey last week collected the Peterborough League Premier Division title, while St Ives won the Hunts Senior Cup against AFC Fletton.

The final will come just two days after St Ives face St Neots in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup, but despite missing four first-team players, co-manager Jez Hall is not shying away from a period that could make or break Saints' season.

"We have the squad to win both games, and we will be going all out to win them both. We can't afford to rest players on Monday to save them for Wednesday. The players should be rested enough by next week to cope with two quick games," he said.

"The game against Ramsey is going to be a challenge, without a doubt. We will be favourites, but it's another local derby for us, and that adds another level to it," he added.

Ramsey manager Paul Taylor said that league position would mean nothing on the day: "We know St Ives will be favourites, and we know they have quality. We have the utmost respect for that quality, but we have beaten teams from their league in this year's competition already. Our boys will not be overawed."

"We are well prepared for the game, and we will hopefully have a full squad to choose from. We'll need the rub of the green, and the officials will need to be strong, but cup finals are occasions when underdogs sometimes spring a surprise," he said.

St Ives got off to a poor start in their semi-final at Westwood Road on Friday night when Langford took take the lead on five minutes, after a breakdown in communication between Tim Quy and Rob Mackney, each waiting for the other to clear, allowed the Langford striker to slot the ball home. Saints could not make the breakthrough before halftime, but pinned the visitors back after the interval, and finally drew level when Liam Kennett sent the ball into the box which Will Fordham met with a powerful header.

Saints left it late to make their dominance count, but when Junior McDougald was pulled back in the box, Will Fordham stepped up to send Saints to the final.

It was a similar story in the other semi-final, as Ramsey had to wait until the ten minutes from the end before making their pressure count. Ramsey fell behind in the first half when a superb Dan Jacobs cross was met by Liam Harrold. Yaxley held onto the lead until half-time despite a scare when Olly Verrals had the keeper beaten with a long-range drive which flew just over the crossbar.

Yaxley held the lead until half time, but after the break the game became a midfield battle, and a few tasty tackles seemed to spark Ramsey into life. They pushed forward in search of the equaliser, and got their reward with just ten minutes left, when Jay Morris smashed home left-footed from outside the box. Ramsey seized the initiative, and got the winner five minutes from time when Jamie Darlow outpaced the defence and slotted past the advancing keeper.
