Squash: County success for Academy juniors
JUNIORS from the Sports Academy at Hunts County Squash Club claimed three titles - and also had three finalists - at the Cambridgeshire County Championships last weekend.
JUNIORS from the Sports Academy at Hunts County Squash Club claimed three titles - and also had three finalists - at the Cambridgeshire County Championships last weekend.
Paul Jordan recovered from 2-1 down to claim the fifth game against the number one seed Chris Shaw to take the U19 title 3-2.
Gregory Goodwin, 13, put in a stunning display in the U17 section and was narrowly denied the title by top seed Tom Symmons 3-2.
Tayla Mounter, meanwhile, who won the girls’ event last year, decided to go against the boys this time and took the consolation prize in the U17 plate event.

It was a Sports Academy battle in the girls’ U15 section, with Natalie Caulkett narrowly beating Charlotte Bamford in the final.
Bamford also competed in the U13s, beating another Sports Academy newcomer and rising star Darcie Mounter.

In the mixed U11, Joe Cox had a great final but narrowly missed out on success.
• The Academy will once again host the British U23 Championships, which are taking place over the weekend of April 8-10, and has also signed a two-year extension to hold the event until 2013.
