Godmanchester Rovers have suffered cup disappointment at the hands of Mildenhall for the second time this season.
Matt Clements’ men were pipped 6-5 on sudden-death penalties as they bowed out of the Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup at the semi-final stage last night following a goalless deadlock.
Goddy goalkeeper Niall Conroy saved the first two Mildenhall penalties in the shoot-out, but his team couldn’t take advantage.
In the end the match was decided in dramatic style as Austen Diaper saw his spot-kick saved by home keeper Craig Pope, who then converted the winning penalty himself.
Rovers also went out of the FA Vase against their Premier Division rivals Mildenhall earlier in the season.
