WATER-SKI world champion Kim Lumley-Manchett last week met Prime Minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street.

The 27-year-old from Somersham was accompanied on the visit by her team-mate and husband Robert Manchett, her father Tom and Britain's former team captain Tony Williams, and spent time talking to Mr Brown and Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe.

Williams said: "We all had a fantastic day, spending two hours in Number 10 in the company of Gerry Sutcliffe. We had a tour of No. 10, tea and coffee and a five-minute meeting with Gordon Brown.

The visit came about when Williams wrote to Number 10 in the wake of Lumley-Manchett's second water-ski world title, which she won in Belgium last summer.

"I was delighted to receive a positive reply to my request and the result was the splendid day we experienced.
