The table-toppers overcame an early setback to sink Brampton Reserves for the second successive Saturday and extend their cushion at the summit to six points.

Fenstanton, who are slow starters at the best of times, found themselves behind within seconds of kick-off, but they responded well to claim a 3-1 success.

Veteran Ben Fuller headed them level before Scott Morrison smashed in a shot off the underside of the bar just before the break to complete the turnaround.

And Fenstanton were rewarded for a dominant second-half display with a clincher when top-scorer Ben Hall slotted away his 22nd goal of the season.

They had further cause for celebration when learning that title rivals Houghton & Wyton had crashed to a surprise second defeat of the season. Jay-Kay Hudson’s strike couldn’t prevent a 3-1 loss at the hands of Isleham.

Goodall hit five of his side’s bumper haul of goals in a 7-0 drubbing of strugglers Swavesey Institute.

George Pearson and sub Paul Carey also got in on the act as the Hunts Junior Cup finalists ran riot.

They weren’t the only local side to tuck into a feast of goals last Saturday – Buckden did likewise.

Jack Goodger’s men also claimed a satisfying slice of revenge as they thumped Chatteris Reserves 7-2 only a fortnight after being beaten in the reverse fixture.

Graeme Marks struck twice, with Chris Dennis, Sam Underwood, Josh Smith, Luke Fennel and Shane McDonald sharing the other goals.

Recent signing Shane Fox fired Mark Spavins’ men ahead, but they had to settle for a point from a 1-1 stalemate against Cambridge City Reserves.

The consolation was extending their unbeaten league run to 10 matches.

Hemingfords’ bid to leave the drop-zone behind was held up by a 3-1 defeat at table-toppers Great Shelford while Brampton still can’t count themselves safe after going down by the same scoreline at Linton Granta.

Two Dave Roberts goals helped Needingworth United collect a first win of 2016 in Kershaw Senior B Division.

Luke Gatford also found the net in a 4-2 win over Ashdon Villa which was eventually clinched by a Thomas Dines strike.
