LOUIS Smith finally got the better of long-time rival Krisztian Berki at the Gymnastic Grand Prix held in Glasgow at the weekend.

THEY say good things come to those who wait.

And that is certainly true in the case of Huntingdon Olympic Gym Club star Louis Smith, who finally got the better of long time rival Krisztian Berki at the Gymnastic Grand Prix held in Glasgow at the weekend.

Smith, 21, cemented his reputation as one of the world’s best pommel horse workers by taking gold, swinging a complex routine to score 15.55 to beat current Hungarian world champion Berki (15.3).

Coach Paul Hall said: “This was a great result for Louis. He is now at the top of his game and there is still room for improvement.”
