SEAN Rose finished eighth in the final of the men's slalom at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver. However, he was unplaced in the Giant Slalom when he failed to record a time for his second run. After adverse weather forced the rescheduling of Rose's favoured event, the downhill, from Saturday to Thursday, the St Neots man opened his Games with a low-key first slalom run on Sunday. After the first round of the slalom, Rose was in fifteenth position, six seconds behind the leader. He was the first man out for the second run, and an improved run gave him an overall placing of eighth. Rose said that despite a poor first run, he was happy with his performance given that he had not finished a World Cup slalom event this year.
