Six top Huntingdonshire paddling prospects are chasing international glory in the coming days.

Erin Hall, Taylor Fernie and Molly Power of the St Neots Dragon Boat Team and Ellie Mobbs, Lewis Newark and Thomas Evans, from the Cambridgeshire Royals club, are in the Great Britain Under 18 squad for the European Nations Championships in Germany.

They are gunning for glory in the mixed, open and ladies categories at Brandenburg an der Havel with races set to take place over a range of distances from 200m to 2,000m from Thursday to Sunday.

The local stars sealed their places in the 28-strong GB team by coming through a series of trials ahead of a successful final assessment in Liverpool at the beginning of August.

They will be joined in Germany by another local star as Izzy Gallon is the Great Britain premier squad’s drummer. The 13 year-old has previously represented Great Britain at both world and European level.
