Huntingdon hero Louis Smith helped Great Britain take silver in the men’s team final at the World Championships yesterday (Wednesday).
The GB sextet – also including Max Whitlock, Dan Purvis, Nile Wilson, Kristian Thomas and Brinn Bevan – finished on 270.345pts, just behind gold medallists Japan who recorded 270.818. China took bronze with 269.959.
Smith said: “I’m feeling overwhelmed and the guys were unbelievable. Everyone pulled together and worked so hard. Everyone did their job.”
Smith can now add an individual medal to his collection when competing in the pommel horse final on Saturday.
He collected the highest score on that piece of apparatus in qualifying earlier this week.
