St Ives Town jumped into third place in Southern League Division One (Central) courtesy of an explosive away performance last night.

The Saints powered to a 4-2 success at Aylesbury United with all their goals arriving inside the opening half-an-hour.

Ben Seymour-Shove fired a seventh minute opener before Danny Watson hit a quickfire brace and Phil Draycott got in on the act.

Hosts Aylesbury did strike twice in the space of seven minutes in the second half, but they were nothing more than consolation goals.

St Ives manager Ricky Marheineke said: “We were terrific in the first half to get the game won.

“It would have been good to keep a clean sheet, but Aylesbury threw a lot of men forward in the second half and got a couple of goals.

“I don’t want to sound disappointed though after we picked up an away win despite missing a few players. It proves we have a good squad.
