A SCHOOL football team are celebrating after securing a brand new kit courtesy of the UK's largest sports charity.

Football coach at St John's CoE Primary School in Huntingdon Alan Woolford was delighted to accept the kit from the Football Foundation group - and advised all schools in the area to make an application.

The Football Foundation awarded the kit - worth £400 - to the team as part of its Junior Kit Scheme which provides strips and equipment to teams across the country.

More than 10,000 kits have already been distributed across the UK to junior clubs and schools, ensuring youngsters have the best possible start in the sport.

Helen Curtis, headteacher at St John's CoE Primary School in Huntingdon, said: "The new strip is a huge boost and the team looks great. The Junior Kit Scheme is a great way of encouraging boys and girls to get into football and stay healthy."

Mr Woolford added: "We were delighted to receive the kit and we would advise every local school to make an application, as it was very easy to do."
