St Ives Swimming Club got their 2007/08 Speedo League campaign off to a fine start with a second-placed finish at Thetford.

Saints battled with home side Thetford Dolphins for pole position throughout, just being pipped to first place in the final event.

Individual wins on the night came from Kyle Ferrier, Hannah Milner, Rachel Moss, Chloe Solomou, Peter Todd, Luke Watson along with sisters Gemma and Hannah Sargent.

The points gained leave the club in a strong position going into the next two rounds of the East Midlands division, to be held over the next two months.

The Speedo league is a keenly-contested national competition that attracts some of the best swimming talent from across the country.
