Paul Swannell and Kumar Jewtha looked impressive on debut and man-of-the-match Dave Land added another two strikes during the course of the game.

Despite having several key players missing, it was a pleasing performance from St Ives.

Meanwhile, St Ives II registered their first win of the season, beating a competitive Royston side 1-0.

Chris Bollom scored the only goal early on in the first half, following up a powerful flick from James Cahill that rebounded off a post.

St Ives II could have had more goals but failed to convert a hatful of opportunities and were grateful to the solid defending of Sevy Cullen.

Saints III snatched a draw at the death of their friendly against Royston III. Jamie Hall and Andy Moore were the goal scorers as the team experimented with a squad system that caused them to lose their cohesion.

Moore almost snatched a win in the dying stages but his miss and subsequent dismissal for dissent saw the game end on a sour note.

St Ives IV went down to a heavy 6-0 defeat against Royston.

Saints battled against a lack of fitness but managed to go through the pain barrier in the hot weather, scoring three second half goals.

Ely started the brighter team after the break but Huntingdon slowly managed to establish themselves.

Sara Chadband broke the stalemate but Ely soon managed to level the scores.

Huntingdon's star players Bernice Bales and Theresa Jackson then broke up the Ely attacks to create goals for Chadband and the lightning-quick Jacki O'Neill.

A dominant Huntingdon midfield kept Ely at bay until the final whistle, with stalwart Ali Custance showing her experience at the back.
