ST NEOTS Town moved up to second in the Southern League Divison One Central Division last night (Tuesday) when they beat Rugby Town 5-1.
Dennis Greene’s side bounced back from two successive defeats to make light work of their opponents at the Hunts Post Community Stadium, but it was the visitors who went ahead early on.
Tyrone Fagan found the net with a header from a corner but Saints captain Lewis Webb made it 1-1 within just 60 seconds when he met a Dan Jacob cross with a powerful header.
Jacob himself put the Saints 2-1 up on 35 minutes before striker Stefan Moore, who missed the last game with a bad neck, joined him on the teamsheet two minutes later.

In the second half Junior Konadu beat a string of defenders and found Shane Tolley’s head for the fourth, before Jacob, from a move begun by new face Rene Steer, got his second of the game for the fifth.
Steer, the former Arsenal youngster, joined the Saints on Tuesday as a replacement for Will Fordham, who left the club the same day.
Left back Steer, 21, was a professional with Arsenal for two years between 2007 and 2009 but failed to break into the Premiership club’s first team. He played five games on loan at Gillingham in 2009 before joining Oldham Athletic a year later. Most recently he has been on the books of Conference South side Staines Town.
