Huntingdon Stags U15 65 The Deepings U15 0 A CRUSHING performance saw Stags return to winning ways and get 2007 off to a flying start. Karl Smith took advantage of a poor clearance to open the scoring inside five minutes and Chris Budd doubled the advantage from the blind side four minutes later. Once again Smith capitalised on good attacking play from the backs to add another score before Matt Hefferan crossed the try line. A period of good Deeping defence stopped the flow but Hefferan soon crossed again with James Anderson then getting on the scoresheet to make it 36-0 at half time. The pattern continued into the second half as James Turner quickly joined the try-scorers. The visitors held their line until the final 10 minutes when a flurry of tries gave the scoreline a flattering gloss to Huntingdon. Karl Smith completed his hat-trick then ran in a further two tries to bring his personal tally to five with Joe Costello - who also added points with the boot - also touching down. Anderson's conversions completed the point scorers in a fine Stags performance that saw Hefferan named man of the match for a strong display.
