Huntingdon have issued a statement of intent with a trio of major summer signings.

The Stags have boosted their Midlands Division One (East) squad with the capture of three players from a higher level.

Fly-half Duncan Low, full-back Reggie Reid and prop Luke Murphy have all agreed moves from Peterborough Lions of National League Division Three (Midlands).

Locally-based Low will take on a player-coach role as part of a coaching set-up led by head coach Damien Whales.

It also features assistant coach Paul Baynes and new forwards coach James Thorpe.

Reid, an RAF corporal based at Wyton, also lives in this area. He has regularly represented the RAF and also has international honours with Germany.

Murphy also saw plenty of action at national level for Lions last season.

Baynes said: "Duncan is at a stage of his career where he is keen to get involved in coaching.

"Travelling to play in Peterborough has also become a bit too much for him due to work and family commitments.

"We're delighted to have him on board and it certainly made it easier for us to attract Reggie and Luke as well.

"All three men can see the way we are trying to move forward as a club with a young and ambitious team.

"We are hoping to make at least one more big signing - which will probably be an overseas player - as well as three or four other additions.

"It is difficult to say what our ambitions will be at this stage until the squad is complete, but there is no doubt an exciting time is ahead for the club.

"We have to ensure we continue to be dominant at home and look to pick up more victories and points on the road.

"The top six is a real target but we will have to wait and see if we can go beyond that."

Huntingdon begin pre-season training at the end of this month.
