Midlands 2E(S) --- Huntingdon Stags 45-12 Old Newtonians --- STAGS ended their three-match losing streak with a superb six-try show at the Racecourse against Old Newtonians. With the booming boot of Damien Whales in kicking mood Old Newts were never at the races, and Stags had the match won by half time. They spent most of the first half deep in Newts territory, with Selim Sheik crossing to put the first try on the board, converted by Whales. Even the loss of Ben Giglio to the sin bin for 10 minutes did not prevent a second score, as James Michael ran in a try in the corner. The conversion was added by Whales and although Newts pressed from the restart good defence was turned repeatedly into attack by the Stags. James Thorpe bagged the third Stags try and Whales' trusty boot sent over another successful kick for the extras, before adding a penalty shortly after. Minutes before the break it was all over as Thorpe touched down his second, converted by Whales. Old Newts started the second half with purpose but an interception by Sheikh resulted in Steven Foster crossing the line for Stags' fifth converted try. Foster was yellow-carded for deliberately knocking the ball on and Newts made the most of the extra man to grab their first score of the day. There was time enough for both sides to add another try, with Stags skipper Elliott Baldwin crossing the line for Stags' sixth converted try of the day before Old Newts brought their score to double figures.
