ST NEOTS crashed to another defeat in the East Midlands Division Six on Saturday - after starting the game in positive fashion and taking the play to the visitors.
They were in full control of the game for the first twenty minutes but a change of referee (due to injury) changed the entire course of the game for the Saints.
Straight after the restart St Neots displayed a total lack of organisation as they allowed OGs to score a try. More points followed before the break despite the efforts of the home team in trying to stem the tide.
Refocused after the half-time team talk, the Saints began the second half in a more organised and determined mood, with the forwards starting to bite into the Wellingborough defence with aggressive rucks and mauls.
The centre pairing of Adam Peel and Kyle Martin showed their impressive range and skill with the eventual pressure telling in a well worked try for winger Sam Peel. The conversation was provided by the metronomic boot of fly-half Steve Gibson.
St Neots then lost their organisation again and conceded yet anther soft try which put the game beyond their grasp and they were beaten by a well disciplined Wellingborough side.
Captain Vinny Tarbox said: "St Neots as a team need to learn from this defeat and their mistakes. If we are to make any headway in the league this season we need to up our commitment and ruthlessness as a team."
St Neots' U11 squad played two games at Ely winning game one 28-12 with tries from Cameron Brown, George Peacock, Ben Tyler (2) and Lewis Medlow kicked four conversions. Game two saw a reverse of fortunes as Ely ran out 7-0 winners. MOTM was Conner Law.
The Colts were at home to Wellingborough but lost 24-14, tries from Luke Warburton and Kieran O'Connell with Andy Heathcote converting both.
