Huntingdon’s hopes of escaping the Midlands Division One East danger-zone were dealt a blow last Saturday.
Damien Whales’ second-bottom side crashed to a 45-8 defeat at Northampton Old Scouts - a team who went into the game sitting directly above the bottom three.
A Chris Turley try and Tad Chapman penalty provided Stags’ points during they heavy defeat which left them seven points from safety with five matches to go.
They face another crucial clash this Saturday as they bid to extend their five-season stay at this level. Stags entertain Melton Mowbray, who now sit just above the drop-zone, at The Racecourse, 3pm.
Stags then finish the season with four games against teams currently in the top half of the table - Old Northamptonians, Oundle, Paviors and Peterborough.
