St Ives Roosters endured a ‘bad day at the office’ last Saturday.

The local side were beaten 38-16 at St Albans Centurions in the East Premier Division only a week after seeing off the same opponents in the reverse fixture.

They conceded four first-half tries to fall 20-0 behind before David Sykes touched down to put their first points on the board.

The combination of injuries and controversial refereeing decisions saw Roosters fall further behind before player-coach Paul Ashbridge claimed a couple of consolation tries late on as he returned to action following a shoulder injury.

"Nothing went our way at all," said Ashbridge. "It was a bad day at the office but we will put it behind us and move on.

"We've got four games to go and three of those are at home so we're still in good shape."

The first of those home fixtures is against Brentwood on July 14.
