Midlands 6 East (South) St Ives RFC 38 Thorney RFC 7 St IVES started at a good pace and consistent pressure from their forwards led to a penalty, kicked successfully by outside centre Jack Blackley. Blackley then became try scorer as he nipped over the line to add more points for the Bulls and more aggressive play by the forwards followed allowing John Ackerley to step through the middle of the defence to score left of the posts. The Bull's continued their assaults on the visitor line and Marc Sands was next to touch down and make it 18-0 at half time. Mel Jessop powered over the line early in the second half and Jason Price added his name to the score sheet with two well worked tries. The visitors finally broke their duck but Ives were not to be outdone and Mel Jessop dashed 25 yards to complete the scoring. Captain Ross Thompson commented; "The team showed fantastic spirit today and the result was a reflection of the way we dominated our opponents". n St Ives next home game is against Westwood on Saturday, November 1. St Ives RFC II's lost 38-28 away to Wellingborough OG's in a close fought game. St.NEOTS 3rd'XV hammered Potton 43-0 with some great team play. Double tries for Adam Hanley and Grahame Walsingham were in addition to tries from Pete Arnold, Tom McColin and Joel Atkins. McColin kicked several conversions.
