Midlands League Three ES Northampton Scouts 30 Huntingdon Stags 5 A STUBBORN display of defence, coupled with poor finishing from the home side kept the score down, as Stags were decimated further by injuries. The visitors travelled to Northampton without regulars Stubbings, Williams and Beattie and were further hindered after half-time when injuries forced full-back Dale Abblitt and tight-head Mike Blanchard off the pitch. Despite their problems, Stags were still in touch at half-time, just three points behind following a late Northampton penalty. The hosts had opened the scoring after crossing the line on the half-hour mark, but Northampton hit back immediatly when Matt Durrant crashed over in the corner following good work from centre Neil Welsh. However, one minute from half time the game changed when flanker Doug Bentley was deservedly sent to the sin-bin after he had conceded a string of penalties. Scouts kicked the penalty and went in at half time with the three points lead. After the break the home side capitalised on the numerical advantage to record the win and send Stags home empty handed.
