Huntingdon Boat Club provided a long list of winners at the Milton Keynes Regatta last Saturday.

The event, staged over a 500m lake course, provided a stiff challenge for the local talents, who are used to river rowing, but they rose to occasion in terrific style with a host of victories.

Matthew Allen featured in two of the successes as he claimed individual Junior 15 single sculls glory and also starred in the winning coxed quad in the age group along with Alec Smy, Gwilym Andrew and Joe Brice. Louise Hinkley was the cox.

Brice and Smy also enjoyed another victory when combining with Kornelia Wajda and Abigail Ryley in the mixed coxed fours – Evie Andrew the cox.

Wajda and Ryley then joined forces with Rosie Shepherd and Ellie Nicholls to win the Women’s Junior 14 coxed fours, with Brice taking over cox duties.

Oscar Brice and Gatley Searle also achieved success in the Intermediate 3 double sculls and there was victory for Dan Fazarckerley and Maksim Marjanovic against clubmates Dan Dignam and George Wootton in an all-Huntingdon double sculls race at Junior 14 level.

Evie Andrew and Louise Hinkley were beaten in the final of their Women’s Intermediate 3 double sculls event and Dan Nash was also pipped in the Junior 16 single sculls showpiece.

Huntingdon Boat Club were also represented by Alex Hunter in the Junior 14 single sculls and George Lindsell Mansbridge in the same event at Junior 16 level.

St Ives Rowing Club enjoyed success at the Yare Cup event in Norwich last Saturday.

They won the overall team prize for their performances over a 3.7-mile course on the River Yare.

Lauren Maddison was successful in the Women’s Junior 17 single sculls in a time of 15 mins, 45 secs, while Sam Hasted and Rory Crouch were victorious in the Junior 16 double sculls in 13 mins, 42 secs.

Paul Ashmore collected the Masters E single sculls crown in 15 minutes and one second, while Gary Gilbey took second in the Masters D single sculls in 15 mins, five secs.
