There was double delight for the junior talents of St Ives Rowing Club last Saturday.
The local club enjoyed two successes at the Peterborough Head of the River race, which was held on the River Nene in seriously cold conditions.
The duo of Sam Hasted and Rory Crouch powered to victory in the Men’s Junior 16 Double Sculls in 11 minutes, 38 seconds - completing the 2,500m course almost three minutes quicker than their closest challengers.
That terrific effort wwas also the second-quickest time by any double - including seniors - at the event.
Lauren Maddison provided the other St Ives triumph in the Women’s Junior Single Sculls in a time of 13 minutes, four seconds.
