ST IVES Rowing Club sent a small but determined contingent to the Ironbridge Regatta in Telford, Shropshire where 545 crews contested two days of racing on the River Severn. Local rivals Huntingdon Boat Club, who were also in action, allowed the St Ives crews the use of their boat trailer/transporter, for which the St Ives club expressed its gratitude. On Saturday, in difficult river conditions, Gary Gilbey and Rebecca Williams both won heats to reach the semi-finals in their respective single scull events, whilst James Hadley was victorious racing his single in the Open Senior 2 event. Racing started again for St Ives at 8.45am on Sunday with Hadley's first race and the early start seem to spur him on and he stormed the field in both Junior 18 and Open Senior 2 winning both events in his single. Gilbey put in a valiant effort in the Open Novice Single Sculls event, losing in the semi-final to the eventual winner, and Williams then rounded of the day and the weekend by pulling out a win with a close run battle against Llandaff in the women's Senior 3 Single Sculls event.
