GODMANCHESTER Rovers have parted company with manager Ian Jackson just days before the start of the new season.
Reserve team boss Karly Hurst and former manager Eric Cheesewright have been named new joint managers and face the task of preparing for the club's opening Ridgeons League Division 1 fixture at Swaffham Town on Saturday.
Jackson, who had been in charge at the club for nearly two years, claims he was given the sack last Wednesday, August 2, following clear-the-air talks on Monday night.
But chairman Keith Gabb says it had been mutually agreed Jackson would tender his resignation at the Monday evening meeting.
Gabb said: "We were made aware by a number of senior players that they were unhappy with the way preparations for the new season were going.
"There were concerns raised about the lack of new players brought in for this season and also about the lack of local players in the squad.
