WITH the weather cold and autumnal for August, catching was more difficult in the two sweepstakes on Saturday and Monday.

Saturday’s match was won by Graeme Worker with 34lb 4oz, with Keith Ellington in second spot and Ian Benton third.

RESULT: 1. Graeme Worker Fox Match Stanjay 34lb 4oz, 2. Keith Ellington Cromwell Lake 25lb, 3. Ian Benton Fox Match Stanjay 18lb 12oz.

MONDAY’S match saw a win for Paul Hendy from his favourite peg 14 when he broke the match record. He caught 22lb 12oz with Fiz Drake in second place and Ian Benton third.

ST IVES AS

THE Thursday Evening Series, the Coote Cup, finished last week with Chris Geeson the winner from Tony McGregor and Paul Ashcroft.

Dolphin Meadow fished well on Sunday with more water on the river after the recent rain. Chris Geeson caught three bream and a tench for 13lb 2oz, with Steve Cox in second place and Paul Ashcroft third.

BENWICK AC

THE Benwick club match on Sunday was fished on Jay Lake at Pidley. Jon Hazelden was the winner with 53lb 15oz.

LAWN FARM

LAST week’s Golden Rod match was won by Dave Lack from Great Paxton.

DAVE Pearce Junior maintained his recent record with another two match wins in the three results from Cross Drove.

ON Saturday there is a Help for Heroes day at the trust. There will be a match, special visitors, tuition for children, the Environment Agency and tank of fish, raffle and tombola. All proceeds go to Help for Heroes.
