A full round-up of the weekend’s colts football across Huntingdonshire

SOMERSHAM

WILL Nelson netted a fine hat-trick for the U12s to carry them through to the third round of the Hunts County Cup.

Opponents Bluntisham Blasters were on the back foot after Callum Arnold had scored in the opening minute, and Nelson’s hat-trick took the final score to 4-0.

HEMINGFORD

FIRST-half action saw the U10s take an early lead against Alconbury through Jaden Rogers.

The same player was on hand to double the advantage, before Alconbury struck back and took a 3-2 lead by the break. Chances came and went in the second half but neither side could hit the target and the score remained 3-2 in Alconbury’s favour.

FENSTANTON

After the U11s and Hemingford drew a blank in the first half, six goals were scored in the second period.

Felix Perez started the ball rolling but Hemingford equalised immediately. Andrew Darling then came to the party with a hat-trick to give Fenstanton a 4-2 win.

ST IVES RANGERS

RANGERS U14s and Newmarket battled hard in their clash, with clear chances limited.

The match was won 1-0 by Rangers when Kieran Price found space to beat the keeper with a rising shot five minutes from time.

The U13A needed all their skills to tame the Burwell Tigers, as Sam Oliver scored all four Rangers goals.

Tigers roared into an early lead and led 2-1 at the break. A game Rangers side turned the match to lead 4-2, thanks to Oliver, before a late Tigers attack made the final score 4-3.

Rangers U12C made most of the running at Needingworth and recorded a 7-2 win. Goals were shared around with Jakob Textor, Kris Atherton, George Peacock, Andrew Chapman and Gio Pistilli all notching singles, and Luke Halliwell hitting two.

End-to-end action resulted in the U11R team taking a thrilling game 5-4 against Parkside Athletic.

Robert Carlos and a Michael Speed double made for a 3-1 advantage at the break and Alex Waldron scored before the teams were locked at 4-4. With seconds left on the clock Speed raced through to net a well-timed winner and his hat-trick.

WARBOYS

RACING out of the blocks, the U11s gave Newmarket a torrid time as their strikers ran amok to record a 17-1 win.

Goals came from Finlay Alston (5), Ben Garbett (4), Jack Pearson (2) and Callum Robertson (2), with one each for Liam Bullard, Sam Wright, Elliot Austin and Luke Gilbert.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

THREE down after 20 minutes against Papworth, the U14s dug deep to rescue a point in a 4-4 draw.

Goals by Nathan Storey and Josh Stephens restored confidence before the break, and although Papworth netted just after the restart, Kyle Nightingale and a second from Stephens salvaged a point.

The U12s beat off torrential rain and an enthusiastic Eaton Socon, to win their Hunts County Cup tie 7-3. Connor Rice, Jack Donnellan and Sam Coulson snatched two each and Owen Bevan made it lucky seven for Rovers.

A four-goal salvo by Ashley Hehir was the backbone behind the U13A team’s fine 7-2 win at Brampton.

Will Taylor added a couple and there was a classy far-post header from Ryan Wood to complete the day.

The U14As were on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller against Fulbourn.

The teams played a game of cat-and-mouse as the game reached 3-3, but Fulbourn notched the important seventh and deciding goal to win 4-3. Goddy’s marksmen on the day were Elkanah Sibanda, Jamie Rutter and Matt LeFarge.

Ely Crusaders were unable to match the 16Bs who stormed home with a 6-0 win. Lewis Collins took a hat-trick with three long-range free-kicks and Adam Hawthorn and Connor Gordon were also on the scoresheet.

PRIORY PARKSIDE

VISITORS Isleham were overwhelmed 7-0 by Priory U13A in the second round of the League Cup. On target for the rampant Priory side were Rowan Irvine, who hit a hat-trick, Blake Rivers, Reece Keating, Jack Hutchinson and Aaron Rymer.

The U16s went joint top with a workmanlike win over Hemingford.

Rhys Howell got things moving with the first goal. Luke Severn then supplied a great throughball for Christian Duddridge to double the advantage. The match was made safe when Jordan Forshaw made it 3-1 20 minutes from time.

Priory U15A turned in a good shift to beat off the challenge of Parkfields 2-1. Having lost to Parkfields earlier this season, it was a real team effort that took the spoils with the goals coming from Tom Meech and Mayson Byatt.

ST NEOTS

AFTER going three down inside 11 minutes, the U14s never recovered against Baldock.

They bravely battled on before going down 8-3. Cameron Crisp restored some pride and Ryan Vale and Alfie Judd added two before the close.

The U12s were in scintillating form as they marched into the next round of the County Cup with an 8-0 win at Brampton. A hat-trick by Sam Cartwright, two from Cameron Stump and singles from Josh Unwin, Ross Sale and Rylee Scott completed the scoring.

ALCONBURY

THE Alconbury U16 Girls went 4-0 down to Wisbech St Mary, before finding their form in a great second half. They scored through Kaya Williams and an own goal, but other good chances went wide as the game was lost 4-2.

RAMSEY

ROB Sayer netted a hat-trick as the U16 side beat Great Paxton 6-2.

Other goals came from Luke Sterna (2) and Elliot Cafferkey.

The U11 fought hard against Newmarket before falling 4-2, as Liam Carrigan netted both goals.

Daniel Short, Kyle Ferrier and Jake Temple bagged a goal each in the narrow defeat against Spartak A, as the score ended 4-3. However, the U13 team’s woes continued with a 14-0 drubbing by Haverhill

BUCKDEN

SOHAM created few problems when the U13s visited them on Sunday.

Buckden struck at regular intervals, with Connor Ray and Donald McGarva both picking up a pair and Joe Griffin and Andrew Hamilton bagging one apiece in a 6-1 win.

Joe Hitchin netted two fine goals to give Vultures U8 the lead at half time against Staploe and Duloe. Buckden’s opponents hit back to lead, and Jason Graham’s equaliser was in vain as a late strike gave Staploe a 4-3 win.

Both keepers excelled when Buckden U11 met Brampton. Buckden missed a first half penalty but Josh Tibbs found the net to score the only goal as Buckden won 1-0.

HUNTINGDON ROWDIES

ROWDIES U13 travelled to Willingham Wolves and won 4-2, thanks to a hat-trick from Nathan Germain and a well-earned goal for Nathan Dawson.

BRAMPTON SPARTANS

FOUR goals in each half by a strong St Neots team left Spartans U12 beaten but not disgraced in their Hunts Cup match. Spartans showed signs of improvement but tired towards the end.

The free-scoring U15 side visited March and kept up their sharp-shooting form with a 10-0 win.

Jake Burrill slammed in a first-half hat-trick after Dom Stevens had started the goal charge. Kieran Murray, Jools Arts, Jonny Wrycraft and David Ball weighed in with one each and the industrious Will Brettle was justly rewarded with two goals.

The U13s battled bravely but failed to hold a vibrant Godmanchester side. Two goals from Ellis Ogle were the only reward from a 7-2 defeat.

LITTLE PAXTON

THERE was plenty of goalmouth action as the U11s and Somersham entertained the crowd. Daniel Collman netted twice after Somersham had taken the lead and a second half Nathan Harris hat-trick gave Paxton the points with a 5-3 win.

NEEDINGWORTH

WITHOUT a win this season, the U12 Blues played some great stuff when they went to unbeaten Waterbeach.

Adam Parmenter gave Blues the lead which they held until just nine minutes from time when Waterbeach equalised. But Blues were not content with a point and were rewarded when Alex Dick smashed home a free kick to win the game 2-1.
